Joseph Whitson started doing business as Adventures in Personal Computing as a second job in 2007 and then full-time in 2009; however, the foundation of this business was built block by block over the past three decades. Joseph’s father was a Computer Specialist for the USAF and always encouraged Joseph to explore the fields of mathematics, electronics and computer technology. Joseph built his first “kit computer” in 1980 and has worked with practically every programming language, script-based programming and operating system since. However, he also pursued other fields of interest along the way, earning degrees in English (A.A.), Liberal Arts (A.A.), Biological Sciences (B.S., with concentrations in Molecular Biology and Microbiology) and Cell and Molecular Biology (M.S.). Over the past three decades, Joseph has been a carpenter, machinist, electronic technician, instructor at CSUS and research scientist in the fields of Analytical Chemistry and Analytical Biochemistry. All of these previous careers, however, merely formed the foundation for his true love, computer technology. Finally at age 51, Joseph has returned to his roots, to his first love (well, that really should be his second love since his wife of 30 years is indeed his first love). And with the foundation of this new career firmly set, Joseph performs all of his services with the precision of a machinist, the diagnostic finesse of a scientist and the patience and desire to teach/ educate of an instructor. As Adventures in Personal Computing, Joseph performs on-site computer repair, maintenance and networking for home users and small businesses. His services include virus removal, data recovery, data back-up, on-site training, purchase assistance, custom-built computer systems and full IT support for small businesses.
